Antonioni mp3 project redux and revision
Hello everyone.
The deadline for this project has been extended to February 1st, 2008.
For those who are new to this project, this is intended to be an mp3
counterpart release for the upcoming double CD release scheduled later in 2008.
http://andoar.blogspot.com/2007/06/new-project-antonionis-tetralogy.html
This is an "open call" project, which means anyone can submit work for
consideration. However, only a certain number of tracks can be selected.
It has been determined that this will now be a label-wide project hosted by
and/OAR and its two new subdivisions either/OAR and mOAR, which means
that the use of field recording sources in the submissions will no longer be
a requirement. This also opens the door for work composed entirely with
instruments, electronics, objects, etc.
The new MP3 catalog will be available, in cooperation with a Swedish
company called Klicktrack, and artists will be given the option to either
receive a percent of the proceeds, or some other arrangement can be
agreed upon.
Where the CD release is focused on Antonioni's "Tetralogy", the MP3
release will be open ended for people to pay general homage in any
number of ways, and can pertain to any number of films or aspects of
the director's filmmaking. If this all sounds rather vague, then you
would be correct! Antonioni's films were poetic works of opacity,
and were pretty much open to the viewer's interpretation.
However, this is not to say that the films had little meaning.
Very much on the contrary.
"Antonioni's lifelong effort (was) to uncover the meanings of things
beneath the mystery of their appearances." - Seymour Chatman
(Antonioni: Or, The Surface Of The World)
"Antonioni asks us to take a slow, steady look at the world around us,
to forget our ordinary preoccupations, and to contemplate that which
lies slightly athwart them." - Seymour Chatman
(Antonioni: Or, The Surface Of The World)
And now without further ado...
Guidelines:
- Track Length: Each track should not be much longer than 7 minutes.
Artists can submit more than one piece for consideration.
- Formats For Submissions: Audio or data CDRs containing WAVs or AIFFs.
Files can also be posted online or sent via a website like YouSendIt.
- Deadline: February 1st, 2007.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Best Regards,
Dale
